"My passion has always been work"

Núria Ribera has a degree in Fine Arts, and works professionally in make-up for television, advertising and fashion. But, "there came a point where I needed to make changes" . These changes have to do with a shift, which turns, which turns around, which also advances in another professional direction.

Hello Núria, what led you to work with ceramics?
Núria Ribera : Almost three years ago I took the step of resuming my artistic career by taking a turn course, the connection I felt with clay was immediate.
He tells us that it was a task he had pending even before starting Fine Arts. "I started looking for courses and decided to enroll in a CFGS in ceramic molds" says Núria. Since then he made his own workshop where he still works today. "It was a very fast process, I felt like I was destined to do this," she says.
How do you approach your artistic and creative process?

Núria Ribera : Like my life, my work in recent years evolves very quickly, I let myself be carried away by very immediate ideas. The feedback I get is also very important when making formal and chromatic decisions. Also, the people around me have always been the best fuel for inspiration.

Do your pieces help you to empower yourself as a woman?

Núria Ribera : Yes, they are a reflection of myself. Art has helped me reconcile with a part of me that I had forgotten. I think this is exactly what the people who surround themselves with these ceramics feel... It seems to me that a very special connection is generated on both sides.

Which women inspire you in your professional life?

Núria Ribera : Both in my career as a make-up artist and in my artistic career, I am surrounded by women. They are my references to follow. The list is very long: Alba, Txell, Joana, Eva, Emília, Ana, Judith, Patrícia, Judit, Rosa, Ángela, Martina, Mariona, Sara... Thanks to them I keep going!

And in your personal life?

Núria Ribera: My mother has always been a great source of inspiration, we have worked together on many projects. I also want to mention Martina Matencio (@lalovenenoso), Patricia Bonet (@patriciabonet) and Marina Ibañez (@theoriginalfleurs_floraldesign), since they are the ones who suggested I do the first three shootings with the ceramic pieces. They have made me see all the potential they have and believe in myself as a ceramic artist.

Do you like jewelry?

Núria Ribera: Yes, earrings are my favorite piece of jewelry, since I work with my hands I always try to wear them without rings or bracelets.

So, if you were a pair of Roosik & Co earrings, which one would you identify with the most?

Núria Ribera : With the Bloom Slender earrings by Quartz Rosa , I like their delicate and almost organic shapes. I chose them from the first moment I saw them. They have a lot of light, but they don't dazzle, it's the kind of jewelry that I could wear for any occasion and still be myself.

- Thank you, Núria, for this interview. Would you like to share what inspires you with us, a song, a book...?

Núria Ribera: My life has a soundtrack! In my workshop there is never a lack of music with a woman's voice. I love Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac, Barbara Streisand, Everything but the Girl, Lauryn Hill…

It was a pleasure to get closer to Núria Ribera this time. We met thanks to Martina Matencio, @lalovenenoso , in one of the photo sessions we did recently. If you follow us on instagram ( @roosikandco ) you will have seen the images that brought us together: our Lilium jewels rest on their molded pieces also with care, passion and detail. It goes without saying that these kinds of collaborations and connections fill and inspire us. We hope you also enjoyed getting to know her.

We recommend that you don't lose track of her from now on, you can follow her at @nuriariberaceramica
